Likhachev stressed the desire to build the Paks-2 NPP as efficiently as possible
Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom, said that the state corporation and the Hungarian leadership are interested in implementing the Paks-2 NPP project at the optimal time and at the best price.
"Ultimately, the Hungarian leadership and I have the same goal — to implement an important project for the Hungarian economy. To implement it as quickly as possible, as efficiently as possible and at the best price," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
He commented on the statement by Istvan Kapitan, candidate for the post of Minister of Economy and Energy of Hungary, about the intention of the new government to re-examine the documents and conditions of the project.
Likhachev noted that after the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers, relevant leaders will be able to familiarize themselves with the materials and formulate questions. According to him, Rosatom has the necessary answers and, if necessary, is ready to explain and justify the economics of the Paks-2 NPP construction to the Hungarian side.
Earlier in the day, Istvan Kapitan, candidate for the post of Minister of Economy and Energy of Hungary, said that the new Hungarian government plans to review the terms of the agreement on the construction of the Paks-2 NPP as one of the first steps. Kapitan noted that economic indicators are directly related to the cost of energy resources. According to him, the authorities intend to achieve lower costs for the purchase of oil and gas, as well as for the production of electricity.
Peter Magyar, the leader of the Tisa party that won the parliamentary elections in Hungary, said on April 13 that all agreements related to the Paks-2 NPP project would be analyzed, and some of them could be terminated. At the same time, the politician noted that Hungary would not abandon joint economic projects with Russia after the change of power in the republic.
