- WP reported on the refusal of European countries to transfer missiles for the Patriot air defense system to Ukraine
Several European countries refused to transfer missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) to Ukraine due to their own needs. This was reported on May 11 by the Washington Post (WP) newspaper, citing sources.
"Earlier this year, the administration of [US President Donald] Trump pushed some European countries to send Ukraine their stocks of Patriot missiles, although some of them refused due to concerns that this would complicate their own defense," the publication says.
According to the newspaper, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have almost exhausted their reserves of PAC-3 missiles used in Patriot complexes. At the same time, deliveries under the PURL initiative, as the newspaper notes, do not meet Kiev's expectations.
The article points out that the issue of supplies remains difficult for European countries, since the transfer of ammunition may affect their own defense capabilities.
