Callas ruled out Schroeder's candidacy as a negotiator with the Russian Federation

On May 11, the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, ruled out the candidacy of former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder as a negotiator with the Russian Federation in the framework of potential future negotiations.

"Schroeder is a well—known lobbyist for Russian companies, if he becomes an EU representative, he will sit on both sides of the table," she said, ruling out this appointment.

Callas also confirmed that the foreign ministers of the European Union (EU) countries will hold a discussion on possible negotiations with Russia at the end of May.
