In Russia, GOST standards for toilet paper and mead will be introduced in the summer

New GOST standards for toilet paper, beer drinks and mead will come into force in Russia in the summer of 2026. This was reported on May 11 by TASS with reference to Rosstandart data.

On June 1, the national standard for toilet paper, napkins and handkerchiefs will begin to operate. The document sets out the requirements for the quality and technical performance of the products. In particular, the minimum width of a sheet or roll of toilet paper should be 90 mm, the area of the sheet is 11 thousand square meters. mm. For a napkin, this indicator is set at 17 thousand square meters. mm, for a handkerchief — 40 thousand square meters. mm.

Starting from July 1, a new interstate GOST for beer drinks will also come into force in Russia. The document specifies the requirements for foam height and foam resistance. They will be 15 mm and one minute, respectively. In the current standard, these values are 30 mm and three minutes.

In addition, a new interstate GOST for mead will come into effect in July. It sets out the terms, physico-chemical and organoleptic characteristics of the drink, requirements for basic raw materials, including honey, technological aids, packaging and labeling, as well as safety indicators.
