Five Russian citizens have become candidates for the governing bodies of the International Skating Union (ISU). This is evidenced by the relevant document published on the ISU website on May 10.

Athlete Yulia Andreeva may be included in the single and pair skating committee, figure skater Alla Shekhovtsova in ice dancing, athlete Ulyana Chirkova in synchronized skating, and Mikhail Sokolov in short track.

Voting will take place on June 12 during the ISU Congress.

On September 19, 2025, the International Skating Union (ISU) allowed Russians to participate in the 2026 Olympic Games in a neutral status because it did not want discrimination. Chae Yel Kim noted that participation in the Olympic Games has been a dream for most athletes for 10, 15 and 20 years, and the Olympics can be once in a lifetime, so it is necessary to find a way to admit neutral athletes.
