Representatives of more than 40 states will meet to discuss contributions to the European vessel escort mission through the Strait of Hormuz after a stable ceasefire is established. This was reported on May 10 by Bloomberg, citing sources.

"More than 40 countries will meet to discuss their military contributions to the European Union (EU)—led vessel escort mission through the Strait of Hormuz after a stable ceasefire is established," the publication says.

It is expected that the States will present their capabilities in the field of mine clearance, ship escort and air patrol as part of the defensive maritime mission. The UK and France will take over the leadership of this initiative, and its goal is to increase the safety and confidence of commercial vessels passing through the strait.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharib-Abadi said on May 10 that the presence of any foreign ships in the Strait of Hormuz would lead to its militarization. He clarified that France has announced the dispatch of the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden as part of the efforts of Paris and London to organize a future mission to ensure the safety of navigation in Hormuz.
