Netanyahu announced his desire to refuse US military aid
On May 10, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his intention to gradually abandon the financial component of military cooperation with the United States.
"I want to gradually reduce to zero the financial component of our military cooperation," he said in an interview with CBS News.
It is specified that Tel Aviv receives $ 3.8 billion a year from Washington. Netanyahu noted that he would like to start reducing financial assistance now. He also admitted that the relevant plan can be implemented within the next 10 years, while the process, in his opinion, can go very quickly.
On April 12, Reuters reported that Israel's war with Iran cost 35 billion shekels ($11.52 billion) in budget expenditures. It was clarified that 22 billion shekels ($7.2 billion) of this budget were spent on defense.
