IRGC spokesman Mohammad Akraminia said on May 10 that ships of states under the "subordination" of the United States that join sanctions against Iran will inevitably face difficulties passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

"From now on, countries that will follow the United States in applying sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran will definitely face problems when passing through the Strait of Hormuz," Tasnim news agency quoted him as saying on its Telegram channel.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharib-Abadi said on May 10 that the presence of any foreign ships in the Strait of Hormuz would lead to its militarization. He clarified that France has announced the dispatch of the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden as part of the efforts of Paris and London to organize a future mission to ensure the safety of navigation in Hormuz.
