Former Polish Justice Minister and Prosecutor General Zbigniew Zebro, who previously received political asylum in Hungary, announced on May 10 that he had arrived in the United States.

"I'm in the States, I flew in yesterday. This is a beautiful country, the strongest democracy in the world," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

In addition, he declared his readiness to appear before an American court, which, according to him, is independent. Zebro also called the charges against him "fabricated by political order."

In Poland, Zebro is suspected of creating and leading an organized criminal group and embezzling funds. In addition, Warsaw wants to hold him accountable for judicial reforms. The politician himself announced on January 12 that Hungary had granted him political asylum in connection with persecution in his homeland. He accused Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and his associates of "creeping dictatorship," putting pressure on the judicial system and using law enforcement agencies to suppress the opposition.
