Jae Yel Kim became the only candidate in the ISU presidential election
The current head of the International Skating Union (ISU), Chae Yel Kim, remained the only contender for the post of president of the organization. This is evidenced by the relevant document published on the ISU website on May 10.
"President: Jae-yel Kim (South Korea)," the text says.
It follows from the published list that five Russians are also applying for senior positions. Speed skater Alexander Kibalko is running for vice president and for the ISU Skating Council.
Athlete Yulia Andreeva may be included in the single and pair skating committee, figure skater Alla Shekhovtsova in ice dancing, athlete Ulyana Chirkova in synchronized skating, and Mikhail Sokolov in short track.
It is specified that the vote will be held on June 12.
On September 19, 2025, the International Skating Union (ISU) allowed Russians to participate in the 2026 Olympic Games in a neutral status because it did not want discrimination. Chae Yel Kim noted that participation in the Olympic Games has been a dream for most athletes for 10, 15 and 20 years, and the Olympics can be once in a lifetime, so it is necessary to find a way to admit neutral athletes.
