Europe shows no interest in restoring contact with Russia to resolve the issue of Ukraine. This was stated on May 10 by Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev at a discussion platform in Berlin on the topic "Peace through dialogue."

"The rest of our European colleagues are silent and do not want a dialogue," RIA Novosti quoted the ambassador as saying.

He noted that among all the heads of European countries, only French President Emmanuel Macron offered to hold a telephone conversation with Russia, but this initiative was never implemented. Nechaev stressed that Europe is still demanding that Ukraine "fight."

On May 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict a matter for Moscow and Kiev. He stressed that the administration of US President Donald Trump is also sincerely striving to resolve the conflict.

Putin said on the same day that a meeting with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky in a third country was possible only if final agreements on a long-term peace treaty were reached. Putin added that the meeting with Zelensky should mean an "end point," not negotiations. He recalled the Minsk agreements, which were held in the format of lengthy consultations, but proved ineffective.
