Ushakov: armistice negotiations were not easy

An agreement on a truce in Ukraine by Victory Day was reached during difficult negotiations. This was announced on May 10 by Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.

"The agreement was reached during difficult negotiations. For two days, negotiations with American colleagues were conducted by phone, and in parallel, the Americans contacted Kiev. It wasn't easy," he told Pavel Zarubin, a journalist at the Vesti news agency.

The presidential aide also commented on Vladimir Zelensky's decree "allowing" a parade to be held in Moscow. According to him, it is at least not serious to publish such a document after the agreements have been reached.

Putin congratulated the Russians on May 9th and told them what inspires his fighters.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed on May 8 that Russia does not need anyone's permission to hold a parade on Red Square. He added that "woe betide anyone who tries to make fun of Victory Day," and called Zelensky's decree itself a stupid joke.

Ushakov, in turn, called the document signed by the President of Ukraine a circus and clowning. He also noted that "there are other short words to describe this decree."
