In the Ukrainian city of Lviv, a man, noticing the staff of the shopping mall (a territorial recruitment center, an analogue of the military enlistment office in Ukraine), took a 13-year-old girl hostage. This was reported on May 9 by the Ukrainian newspaper Strana.ua" with reference to the local police.

"The incident occurred on Kavaleridze Street. A 43-year—old Lviv resident sprayed tear gas, grabbed the girl and held a knife to her neck," the Telegram channel said.

It is specified that the man was detained. The girl was not injured in the incident. As specified in the publication, a criminal case was opened into the incident.

Earlier, on May 4, it was reported that employees of the territorial recruitment center mobilized Denis Postolenko, a 40-year-old local resident in the Odessa region, despite having serious problems with vision, hearing and spine. According to Postolenko, who is an ordinary soldier of the 159th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, he had not previously been called up for military service due to his health condition. However, in April 2025, the man was forcibly taken to the shopping mall and sent to the troops.
