Russian military assault units of the 29th Guards Army of the Vostok group laid a wreath and flowers at a pedestal with a T-34 tank in the liberated Volnovakha of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was announced on May 10 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

"Our unit laid a wreath in the city of Volnovakha in memory of the ancestors who fought against Nazism. We know firsthand what it means to fight for our land and our people, just like our grandfathers did 81 years ago," said a soldier with the call sign Bear.

The soldiers noted that the memory of the heroic deeds of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) helps to complete the most difficult combat tasks on the front lines in the special military operation zone. According to the servicemen, it is important to pay tribute to the generation of defenders of the Fatherland who defended the freedom and independence of the country during the war.

On May 8, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the military personnel of the Vostok group of forces had restored the memorial to the soldiers who fell in the Second World War in one of the liberated settlements of the DPR. The monument, erected in Soviet times, was damaged as a result of shelling by militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Thanks to the Russian military, it was restored, the ministry noted. In addition, Russian military personnel have cleaned up the territory of the mass grave and plan to paint it.
