On May 9, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on a statement by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who promised to discuss with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico his Victory Day visit to Moscow.

"There would be no Europe Day without the victory of the Soviet people. There would be one continuous concentration camp with gas chambers," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
