Rublev reached the third round of the Masters tournament in Rome
Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev reached the third round of the Masters tournament in the Italian capital on May 9.
In the second round of the competition, the 28-year-old athlete, seeded at number 12, beat 26-year-old Serb Miomir Ketsmanovic. The match ended with the score 6:4, 6:4.
In the next round, the 14th racket of the world will face the winner of the pair Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina (Spain, number 21) and Christian Garin (Chile, qualified).
Rublev has 17 ATP singles titles to his credit. In 2021, he became the Olympic champion in mixed doubles with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, and also won the Davis Cup and the ATP Cup as part of the Russian team.
The current winner of the Rome Masters is Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz. The tournament will end on May 17th.
Earlier in the day, Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev reached the third round of the Masters tournament in Rome. He was scheduled to face Czech Tomas Machac in the second round. An hour before the meeting, the tournament's press service announced that the Czech tennis player had withdrawn from the competition due to illness.
