The Ukrainian issue was discussed at a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. This was announced on May 9 by the assistant to the Russian leader, Yuri Ushakov.

"The Ukrainian issue was discussed among many other issues," Ushakov said, as quoted by RIA Novosti.

Earlier that day, Ushakov said that the Russian president had not received any messages from Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, which he allegedly could have sent through Fico.

The talks between Putin and Fico took place in the Kremlin on the same day. During them, the Russian leader thanked Fico for the visit. Commenting on the cooperation between Moscow and Bratislava, he pointed to their steady dynamics. The Russian president stated that the country intends to meet Slovakia's energy needs, and in response received a promise from Fico to take care of the cemeteries of Soviet soldiers in Slovakia.
