Hero of the Russian Federation Apalkov told about the cleansing of the village from saboteurs

Hero of Russia Roman Apalkov told Izvestia on May 9 how, commanding a reconnaissance platoon, he fought with enemy saboteurs in the special operation zone (SVO). According to him, the task was to clear the road and meet the convoy.

"My radio station is dead, I was changing the battery. From behind, my fighter says, "Commander, look, they're coming from the left." And the rest of the group was already 30 meters away from me. And a group of five enemy soldiers was marching, it turns out, they didn't have much time," Apalkov said.

Realizing that the enemy was coming to intercept, Apalkov decided to shoot. He killed two, wounded the third, then gave the command, and all opened fire.

"I reported to the commander that the road was clear, the column could move, but we were burned down. We were ordered to carry out the withdrawal. We went out and completed the task without losses," added the deputy commander of the tank regiment.

In the morning, the column entered the village, landed the infantry and finished off the enemy.

"Almost in one day, the village was under us," Apalkov concluded.
