Putin joked about Fico's difficult route to Moscow

At a meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on May 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin joked about his long journey to Moscow for Victory Day celebrations.

"I am very glad to see you. I know that you have traveled a long way to get here. Again!" said the Russian leader, noting that all European countries themselves celebrate the end of the war with Nazi Germany.

Fico said that he flew through Germany, the Czech Republic and the Baltic Sea, the journey took four hours.

"But it's still better than by car," the prime minister remarked, to which Putin joked that flying a difficult route is still better than riding a horse.

Fico arrived in Moscow on May 8 to celebrate the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII). Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Fico intends to convey to Putin a message from Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
