Berlin residents laid flowers at the memorial to Soviet soldiers on Victory Day.
In Berlin, people come to the Soviet military memorial to honor the memory of those who died in the Great Patriotic War.
The police are on duty at the site: the city authorities have decided that the Soviet uniforms and symbols of the Great Victory pose a threat on this day, but the bans did not prevent visitors. Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev also laid wreaths at the Soviet military memorial.:
"We have paid a colossal and unprecedented price for this Victory. No side in history has lost so many victims," the ambassador noted.
On the same day, it was reported that residents of the Latvian capital were carrying flowers to the monument to Soviet soldiers located at the Pokrovsky Cemetery in Riga. People lay carnations and other flowers at the foot of the monument, next to which memorial candles are also lit. There is a massive presence of police officers at the scene of the event.
