"For me, the Immortal Regiment is really a popular movement, it came from below, from ordinary people. It embodies the wisdom of the people, the power of the people, memory, faith and service to their country," said the participant from Magadan.

The participant from Kemerovo paid tribute to the memory of Kamenev's uncle Stepan Mikhailovich, who reached Konigsberg, lost an eye at the front, but returned alive, and her husband's grandfather Konstantin Remeevich Rohatin, who went through three wars. For posterity, they are all heroes who defended their homeland for the sake of future generations.

A resident of Krasnoyarsk came with a portrait of Maximov's grandfather Georgy Alekseevich. He did not go through the whole war because of a serious injury: he fell into a crater, he was discovered and saved by a nurse.

"When he got home, he even had these fragments coming out of him. He died from the wound. He was young, about 46 years old, probably. It was a big family. It is very important, very important in his memory. He was very wonderful as a person. I'm worried. Well, I went through the war, that's it. No matter how much we respect and love him. And so I go to the memorial every year," she added.

Izvestia published footage of the Immortal Regiment action in Geneva, Switzerland, the day before. The participants gathered in front of the United Nations (UN) headquarters. They came with photos of their ancestors who participated in the Great Patriotic War (WWII).
