Sobyanin congratulated Muscovites on Victory Day

Mayor Sergei Sobyanin congratulated veterans and all residents of Moscow on Victory Day.

"Victory Day is an important and expensive day for each of us. Day of unity and courage of the people who passed the hardships of the Great Patriotic War," he wrote on his channel in Maks.

Current generations are proud of the feat of their ancestors, and "their memory will live forever," Sobyanin added.

In the morning, a parade was held on Red Square in Moscow in honor of the 81st anniversary of the Victory. As part of the celebration, military personnel from military educational institutions, as well as participants in a special military operation, marched in a parade formation. The parade ended with an aerial part, during which planes of Russian aerobatic teams flew over the capital.

Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a speech in honor of the anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. He congratulated all those present, as well as the participants of his Victory Day, on "our sacred, bright and most important holiday."

"We celebrate it with feelings of pride and love for our country, with an understanding of our common duty to protect the interests and future of the Motherland. We celebrate with sincere filial gratitude to the great generation of winners. We sacredly honor the precepts and legacy of the soldiers of victory," Putin said.

According to the head of state, the care of the Fatherland brings together the whole of Russia and its people put an end to the total and merciless evil, returned to the sovereignty of those States which capitulated to Nazi Germany, turned into a submissive partners of her crimes.
