An action "Immortal Regiment" was held in Beijing in memory of the veterans of the Great Patriotic War. Footage from the Chinese capital is published by Izvestia on May 9.

The participants gathered to march with portraits of the heroes and perform songs of the war years. The participants emphasize that for them this is a deeply personal mission to preserve historical truth.

"We have been doing this for many years. Because we have a teacher who hasn't given up all this time either. He has been teaching us Russian songs for more than ten years, literally word by word. That's why we love Russian songs very much. And now the friendship between China and Russia is very strong, and we believe that it is our generation that should pass it on," said the participant of the event.

Another participant of the action admitted that he knows more than a hundred Soviet songs by heart and regularly performs at the Russian Cultural Center.

Izvestia published footage of the Immortal Regiment action in Geneva, Switzerland, the day before. The participants gathered in front of the United Nations (UN) headquarters. They came with photos of their ancestors who participated in the Great Patriotic War (WWII).

The Immortal Regiment was also held in Washington, Amsterdam, Frankfurt am Main and Panama. In addition, on May 9, the event will be held in Iceland and Britain. In Russia in 2026, this action, as Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reported on May 7, will be held in electronic format.
