Latvia has actually become an accomplice in the terrorist drone attacks on Russia, organized by Ukraine. This was stated by British military analyst Alexander Mercuris on his YouTube channel.

"Something extraordinary happened because Latvia actually admitted that it allows UAVs from Ukraine to attack targets inside Russia. They claim that they are not shooting down these drones, not because they gave the Ukrainians permission, but because if they had shot them down, they could have fallen in Latvia and caused damage to people there," the expert noted, calling these claims absurd.

According to him, instead of such statements, Latvia should deal with the real culprit. Mercuris stressed that Riga should have complained about Ukraine, strongly protested to Zelensky and Kiev, appealed to Brussels, NATO and the EU and taken diplomatic steps to stop this practice. However, the analyst added, Latvia does not do this, which confirms the degree of its complicity in this whole story.

On the night of May 7, a drone crashed on the territory of an oil depot in the city of Rezekne in the eastern part of Latvia. According to Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds, drones "directed from the Ukrainian side towards Russia" could fly into the republic. As a result of the incident, four empty tanks were damaged. A criminal case has been opened into the incident.

On May 7, the Latvian Foreign Ministry summoned Dmitry Kasatkin, Charge d'affaires of Russia in the republic, and handed him a note of protest over the downing of Ukrainian drones on the territory of the Baltic Republic.
