The first "Immortal regiment" on all-terrain vehicles took place in Chukotka
The world's first action "Immortal Regiment" on all-terrain vehicles was held in the Chukotka Autonomous Region. This was announced on May 9 by the regional government.
"In Chukotka, on the eve of Victory Day, drivers of Arctic vehicles conducted an "Immortal Regiment" off-road for the first time. Powerful cars crossed the snow—covered expanses with portraits of heroes who defended their Homeland during the Great Patriotic War (WWII)," the message in the Maks messenger says.
A convoy of off-road vehicles passed through the Arctic tundra in the vicinity of Anadyr. It is noted that during the war years, the inhabitants of Chukotka worked in the rear, providing the front with tin and food. The organizers expect that even more drivers will join the race next year.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced on May 8 that Russian President Vladimir Putin had long ago added a photo of his father to the website of the Immortal Regiment memorial campaign. He clarified that the Russian leader did this during the COVID-19 pandemic.
