In New York, the price of orange juice has sharply increased due to the threat of a shortage of fruit crops in Brazil, which is their global exporter. This was reported on May 8 by Bloomberg with reference to the study.

"The most active orange juice futures rose by as much as 5.8%, which was the largest intraday jump in more than a week. On the stock exchange, prices rose by 10 cents to $1.8320," the publication says.

The fruit shortage is associated with the spread of tree disease in orange groves in the main regions of Brazil. In addition, the situation is aggravated by the temperature increase last year, which seriously affected the flowering period, which actually determines the number of fruits grown. According to forecasts, next season the number of oranges will decrease by 13% or by more than 255 million boxes compared to last year.

According to data from the ICE Futures exchange on December 30, cocoa bean prices fell below $4,000 per ton for the first time since November 2023. The fall in the value of March cocoa futures in New York on Friday reached 5.9%, while the price dropped to $3,931 per ton, the lowest value since November 2023.

On the same day, it was reported that the cheapest product in 2025 was orange juice, the price of which dropped by 60%. Then the top three also included cocoa beans, which fell in price by 54% in the London market and by 46% in the American market.
