Psychiatrist named ways to overcome irritation due to colleagues at work
There are several simple steps that will help you cope with the feeling of irritation that a colleague may cause at work. Psychiatrist and psychotherapist Anton Shestakov told about this on Friday, May 8.
He recommended using the "pause before reaction" technique.
"When irritation increases, take three slow exhalations. This activates the parasympathetic nervous system and reduces norepinephrine levels, returning control to the prefrontal cortex. A reaction taken in a state of passion almost always worsens the situation," the specialist said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
Shestakov also spoke about the method of separating intention and behavior. You need to ask yourself whether a colleague behaves this way on purpose or is simply arranged differently.
"Research in the field of social neuroscience shows that most annoying behavior is explained by temperament, habits, or anxiety — rather than malicious intent," the psychiatrist explained.
Shestakov recommended using "I-statements" instead of accusations, that is, saying not "You constantly interrupt," but "When I am interrupted, it is difficult for me to convey a thought." This method can reduce the likelihood of a defensive reaction from the interlocutor and turn the conversation into a constructive one, he added.
In addition, you can minimize the intensity of contact with a colleague: correspondence instead of conversation, meetings with a clear agenda.
"It's not avoidance, it's attention resource management and emotional budget management," the doctor added.
psychologist Olga Romaniv told on May 6 how to protect herself from bullying in the team. She explained that bullying in a team is usually not related to a person's personal qualities, but points to an unhealthy corporate environment where boundaries are violated and aggression becomes the norm. According to her, mobbing develops gradually — from inappropriate jokes and ignoring ideas to pressure and shifting responsibilities, which causes a person to doubt himself.
Earlier, in February, Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma's labor committee, said that Russians have the right to defend their labor rights in the event of bullying.
The parliamentarian noted that for this purpose it is necessary to contact the personnel department of the enterprise and collect evidence of violations. The legislation provides for the protection of employees from harassment, including administrative and criminal liability of perpetrators, compensation for damage, and even reinstatement at their former place of work with payment for forced absenteeism. 360.ru .
