Sobyanin spoke about the development of cancer care in Moscow

Moscow was the first in the country to adopt new federal clinical guidelines for the treatment of the most common cancers and did so three years ahead of schedule. This was announced by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, in his channel in the Maks messenger.

Sobyanin noted that the introduction of the standard of oncological care in the capital "makes it possible to significantly speed up the treatment process, simplify it for the patient and achieve better results." Thus, the detection of malignant tumors in the early stages increased from 62.3% in 2019 to 67.8% in 2025, the mayor emphasized. At the same time, the number of patients who have been registered for more than five years since the diagnosis increased from 55.6% to 74.3%.

Currently, there are five multidisciplinary cancer centers operating in Moscow, Sobyanin recalled. They include nine Outpatient Oncological Care (CAOP) Centers for diagnosis. The children's CAOP operates on the basis of the Morozovskaya DGKB.

Five modern endoscopic centers with expert-class equipment have also been created, the mayor noted. They also conduct research for patients at risk. According to Sobyanin, this helped to detect colon cancer at stage zero five times more often.

The head of Moscow stressed that in addition, telemedicine technologies are actively developing in the capital. For example, a telemedicine consultation service has been introduced into the work of the CAOP to remotely extend electronic prescriptions for a number of drugs, inform and explain the decision of the oncological council if the patient was not present in person.

Nuclear medicine makes a significant contribution to the treatment of oncological diseases in Moscow, the mayor of the capital said earlier. In 2025, more than 32,000 patients, including more than 4,000 children, underwent high-precision radioisotope diagnostics in Moscow. In total, over 41,000 studies have been conducted, 1.8 times more than in 2021, Sobyanin said.
