The deep faction setup and extensive leveling system are reminiscent of another famous strategy series, Civilization.

One of the outstanding indie strategies of recent years with kingdom management on the global map and short battles. Battles mostly take place automatically, and the user influences their outcome with the help of the heroes' abilities. The player leads armies through hand-crafted maps, captures cities and key points, develops settlements, and makes decisions based on events that affect both battles and history in general. Songs of Silence features story campaigns, randomly generated scenarios, and multiplayer with PvP and co-op. It is also worth noting the striking soundtrack by composer Hitoshi Sakimoto.
Disciples Liberation

What to play on: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S

Procedural campaigns create unique playthroughs with different tasks, enemies, and starting conditions.
Endless Legend
When it was released: 2014
What to play on: PC
4X is a strategy game with unique factions and a special provincial system: only one city can be built in each region. The player develops through the placement of areas on the map, managing resources and approval levels, as well as adapting to harsh winters and other seasons that affect the economy and movement. The battles take place on hex maps, and the initiative, the height of the units, the line of sight, and the abilities of the units are taken into account during the battles. Each faction has its own story quests that set the direction of the campaign.
Master of Magic

What to play on: PC
A remake of the 1990s classics transforms players into magicians and allows them to control an empire in two worlds — Arcanus and Mirror. The main gameplay focuses on urban development, magic exploration, and tactical combat. Here you need to create your own wizard, combining character traits and schools of magic, hire heroes and summon creatures. The world is generated procedurally, and this makes each passage unique.
The Dragoness: Command of the Flame
When it was released: 2022-2023
What to play on: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch
This game rethinks the classic Heroes of Might and Magic formula, making it more compact and focused on short missions. The character performs individual tasks on small maps, and between outings returns to the hub city, which needs to be gradually restored and developed. In the process, you will have to collect resources, hire squads of creatures, capture points of interest and participate in turn-based battles using hero skills and magic. Meta-progression plays an important role.: New buildings, abilities, and army configurations are unlocked over time and saved between missions.
Brigandine
When it was released: 1998
What to play on: PlayStation
An old-school tactical SRPG in which the player leads Rune Knights and squads of fantastic creatures to conquer a continent. The main gameplay mechanics include forming coalitions around knight leaders, summoning creatures for mana, and fighting. Each nation in the game has its own set of units, heroes, and a storyline campaign. Brigandine will appeal to HoMM fans who want large-scale conquests with tactical battles, but without overloaded city management.
