The Russian Consulate has asked the Geneva police to strengthen security measures during the Immortal Regiment rally. This was announced on May 8 by Russian Consul General in Geneva Igor Popov.

"As for the issue of security, everything went smoothly last year. It's not a fact that it will be so calm this year either. But when we received permission, we met with the police, and I asked them to pay special attention, given that there will be elderly people there," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The agency stressed that the announcement of the rally in front of the UN Headquarters in Geneva caused a wave of negative comments on the consulate's social networks, many of them written in Ukrainian.

According to the diplomat, Russia was promised to provide enhanced control in order to prevent provocation. He also stressed that in order for the actions to prevent the holding of a parallel event, it is also necessary to obtain permission from the authorities, but this possibility cannot be ruled out.

On May 2, the press service of the Russian Embassy in the United States reported that the Immortal Regiment march and the St. George Ribbon campaign dedicated to Victory Day were held in the American capital. It is noted that the crowd marched through the central streets of Washington with portraits of relatives who participated in the Great Patriotic War. They honored the memory of the fallen at the World War II Memorial and took part in a commemorative concert with the performance of military songs.

In addition, the action took place in other cities: Panama, Amsterdam and Frankfurt am Main. In addition, on May 9, it will be held in Iceland and Britain. In Russia in 2026, this event, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, will be held in electronic format.
