The UAV attack on Moscow on May 7 was one of the most massive since the beginning of the year.

During the day on May 7, the air defense forces repelled an attack by 61 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) flying to Moscow. This was confirmed on May 8 by TASS calculations based on data from the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

According to the agency's calculations, the attack was one of the most massive since the beginning of 2026. Prior to that, the largest attack was recorded on March 14, when 65 drones were destroyed during a day on approach to the capital.

On the following day, on March 15, air defense systems eliminated 54 more UAVs, and on the 16th of the same month, 42 drones were shot down between 02:00 and 11:00 Moscow time.

Sobyanin reported on March 11, 2025, that the most massive drone attack on Moscow had been repelled. Then, according to him, 74 UAVs were destroyed on approach to the city, and in general, hundreds of drones were shot down at different borders.

In the same year, from 5 to 7 May, the air defense forces eliminated 55 drones flying towards the capital. Another major attack was recorded on September 22-23, when 46 UAVs were destroyed in the sky over the Moscow region.
