A Russian woman released from a Myanmar skam center on May 8 spoke about the conditions of detention in captivity.

"I spent many days in a closed rebel settlement, where there were only local residents and 24-hour security. I was not allowed to go out, there was no clear information. <...> In general, this is a huge conveyor belt of death," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The woman stressed that among the detainees were not only citizens of Russia and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), but also other states. According to her, this indicates the large-scale international nature of such schemes.

Two days earlier, the Russian Embassy in Thailand announced the release of two Russian citizens from fraudulent call centers in Myanmar. The women were transferred for subsequent repatriation to Russia.

On the same day, information appeared that fraudsters luring foreigners to Thai scam centers were promising them a salary of $5,000. Those who responded could easily be resold or involved in even more dangerous schemes.
