Glenn Diesen, a professor at the University of Southeastern Norway, said on May 7 that attitudes towards establishing a diplomatic dialogue with the Russian side may change in Europe.

"Defending diplomatic relations with Russia may soon cease to be considered treason in Europe," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Thus, Diesen commented on the statement by the head of the European Council, Antonio Costa, that the leaders of the European Union (EU) are discussing possible negotiations with Russia when "the right moment comes for this."

The German newspaper Berliner Zeitung reported on April 27 that Berlin should strive to start a dialogue with Russia, in particular with its President Vladimir Putin. The Russian leader, in turn, on the same day pointed out Moscow's desire for dialogue with constructive political forces in the world.
