Military personnel of the separate motorized rifle battalion "Cedar" of the 80th tank Regiment of the 90th Guards Tank Division of the Center group of forces conducted targeted congratulations to veterans of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) and home front workers on the eve of May 9. This was announced on May 8 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

The servicemen paid visits to the heroes to express their personal appreciation for their exploits and to present memorable souvenirs. During the meetings, soldiers presented the veterans with bouquets of flowers and valuable gifts from the command. Special attention was paid to everyone: the soldiers communicated with them, inquired about their well-being and living conditions, and also listened attentively to stories about the war years. Despite their advanced age, many veterans willingly shared their memories of their military path and their comrades.

"On the eve of May 9, Victory Day, we have the honor and pride to visit the addresses of veterans and participants of the Great Patriotic War, home front workers. From our unit, from the Kedr battalion, from the entire 80th Tank Division, we want to bring <...> what the veterans need now," shared one of the battalion's soldiers.

Among those who were congratulated by the soldiers of the Kedr battalion was 95-year-old Vasily Maksimovich Sklyarov. During the Second World War, the veteran acted in a partisan detachment, operating in the occupied territory.: He managed to personally knock down a number of enemy formations, thereby causing serious damage to the forces of the Nazi invaders. The hero warmly greeted the arrivals in military uniforms, expressing his sincere gratitude to them for their attention and care.

The campaign of targeted congratulations to veterans has become part of the patriotic work carried out by the military personnel of the Center group of forces on the eve of Victory Day. The soldiers of the Kedr battalion emphasized that it is important for them to preserve the bond of generations and honor the feat of those who defended the freedom of the Motherland in 1941-1945.

In Donetsk on May 7, artists of the front-line creative brigade of the song and Dance ensemble of the Central Military District congratulated WWII veterans on the eve of the 81st anniversary of the Victory. Military musicians visited veterans at home, organizing festive mini-concerts. The program includes famous works of the war years, including the song "Katyusha".
