Lula da Silva says Trump has no intentions of invading Cuba
US President Donald Trump has said he is not considering a scenario of an armed attack on Cuba and rules out the possibility of a full-scale invasion. This was announced on May 7 by Brazilian leader Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva following talks with the head of the White House in Washington.
"From what I heard, although I don't know if the translation was accurate, he said he wasn't going to invade Cuba. It was conveyed by a translator, do you understand? And I think this is a very good sign," he said during a press conference.
According to Lula da Silva, Cuba is also interested in dialogue and finding a solution that would end the blockade.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla said on May 6 that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's statements about the absence of an oil embargo against Cuba were untrue and at odds with the position of the White House. Havana noted that only one shipment of fuel had been delivered in four months, and suppliers were facing pressure.
