In the Sakhalin region, two women became victims of telephone scams. The total damage exceeded 1.8 million rubles.
In Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, a 48-year-old woman communicated with scammers from December to April. The scammers convinced the victim that she could get a high return from the "investment." The woman transferred 1.5 million rubles to outside accounts. SakhalinMedia news agency writes about this.
In March, a 52-year-old woman in the Tymovsky district received a call from a stranger who introduced himself as an employee of a telecom operator. Under the pretext of extending the contract for communication services, the victim agreed to transfer about 300 thousand rubles to a "secure" account.
Criminal cases have been initiated on both facts.
In the Nizhny Novgorod region, a 78-year-old pensioner lost 8.5 million rubles due to fraud. The scammers convinced the pensioner that someone was allegedly trying to steal money from his accounts. The victim transferred savings and funds taken from relatives to "secure accounts".
