On May 7, US President Donald Trump announced that his meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva had gone very well.

"My meeting with Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the very energetic president of Brazil, has just ended. <...> The meeting went very well," he wrote on Truth Social.

He clarified that during the meeting, the topics of trade, including tariffs, were raised. Representatives of the two countries intend to hold a meeting to discuss a number of important issues. Trump added that additional meetings will be scheduled in the coming months as needed.

During his visit to Germany on April 20, Lula da Silva said that Brazil was unhappy with the role it was assigned in international affairs and was tired of the fact that the republic was still considered a "third world country." It was clarified that Brazil has gained economic stability in recent years. In addition, the country has become attractive for foreign investment, and therefore it is ready to continue to increase bilateral ties.
