A funeral ceremony for the remains of 80 Red Army soldiers who died in 1945 in the last days of the war took place in Potsdam. The corresponding footage is published by Izvestia on May 7.

The remains of the soldiers were discovered in 2025 in the Krampnitz area on the territory of the former military barracks. The Department of Memorialization managed to identify all the names. We are talking about Red Army soldiers from the 175th and 78th Infantry divisions who participated in the liberation of Potsdam in April 1945.

In addition, Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev told Izvestia that all the planned events for May 9 in Germany will take place, despite the unfriendly steps of the local authorities.

"As for the Berlin authorities, who have been resorting to restrictions for the fifth year, frankly speaking, this does them no credit. We perceive this as an unfriendly action, we do not understand why this is being done. <...> But we will still hold all the events that are planned, and there are a lot of them, on May 8th, especially on May 9th, with dignity and solemnity," the Ambassador said.
