The priest told me what absolutely cannot be done in the cemetery.
The grave of the deceased on Trinity Parents' Saturday should not be turned into a picnic spot, as well as "pagan celebrations" on it, Vladislav Beregovoy, head of the missionary department of the Pesochenskaya diocese, told Izvestia.
According to the priest, on this day it is important to attend a divine service in the temple, receive communion and pray for their deceased relatives. If a person attended a service, then there is "practically nothing to do" at the cemetery, since in the Orthodox tradition, funeral services in a church occupy a more significant place in the hierarchy of prayer actions than visiting a grave, he added.
"If possible, it would be good to invite a priest to perform a memorial service at the cemetery, but this is a rather rare practice, because priests are usually very busy these days," said Father Vladislav.
On your own, you can read the Litany of the Dead in the editorial office for the laity or the Psalter at the grave.
