In January-April of this year, 5,376 new BMW cars were registered in Russia. This is 69% more than in the first four months of last year, when 3,174 cars of the Bavarian brand were registered in the country. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on May 7.

The most popular BMW model imported into Russia turned out to be the X3 crossover. It accounted for almost a third (32.5%) of the demand (1,747 copies).

The top five most popular models were also supplemented only by crossovers — X5 (902 units), X1 (617 units), X7 (490 units) and X6 (423 units). The fifth-series sedan is in sixth position (388 units).

The expert noted that almost half of the BMW cars sold in Russia this year were produced in China (49.6%). The rest are issued from Germany (44.8%), the USA (3.5%) and other countries.

In addition, according to Tselikov, 77 BMW units registered in Russia in four months were produced at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad. As reported earlier this year, BMW cars are assembled there from car kits left after the German company left the Russian Federation and terminated its cooperation with the Russian car assembly plant in 2022.

Also on May 7, it became known that by the end of January-April, 9708 new Toyota cars were registered in Russia. This is almost twice (+97%) more than in January-April last year, when 4,929 cars of this Japanese brand were registered in the country.
