The Immortal Regiment campaign came to Panama
On the eve of Victory Day, a march was held on the territory of the Republic of Panama in memory of the participants of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) as part of the Immortal Regiment campaign. The footage is published by Izvestia on May 7.
Hundreds of people took to the streets. In addition to local residents, they included representatives of the Russian diplomatic mission, in particular, Ambassador Konstantin Gavrilov, who delivered a speech.
The passage of the participants of the action with portraits of their relatives and loved ones was carried out under the song "Katyusha". They decorated their clothes with St. George's ribbons and laid flowers at the monument to Soviet submariners who made a secret transatlantic crossing through the Panama Canal to Murmansk in 1942-1943. Representatives of the Pacific Fleet were involved in this operation, who were instructed to strengthen the detachments of their colleagues from the Northern Fleet during the Second World War.
The Immortal Regiment campaign has already been held in Washington, Amsterdam and Frankfurt am Main. In addition, on May 9, it will be held in Iceland and Britain. In Russia in 2026, this event, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, will be held in electronic format.
