The lawyer warned about the consequences of desecration of the St. George ribbon
Lawyer Andrey Alyoshkin warned that public abuse of the St. George ribbon could result in a real prison term.
In conversation with aif.ru On Thursday, May 7, he reminded that the St. George ribbon should be worn with respect — it is best to place it on the chest near the heart, on the shoulder or collar. In a car, the symbol can be attached to the mirror holder. At the same time, the expert stressed that the ribbon should not be hung on bags, shoes, hats or placed outside the car.
He also noted that public desecration of symbols of military glory, insulting the memory of defenders of the Fatherland and humiliating veterans fall under Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Rehabilitation of Nazism"). According to Alyoshkin, fines of up to 3 million rubles, compulsory or correctional labor, as well as imprisonment for up to three years are provided for such violations.
If the offense is committed by a group of people or using the Internet, the punishment is increased: the fine can rise to 5 million rubles, and the term of imprisonment can be up to five years. In addition, the court may additionally prohibit holding certain positions or conducting specific activities for up to five years.
Desecration includes public acts that humiliate the symbol of military glory, including tearing off, burning or trampling the St. George ribbon, using it together with Nazi symbols, applying offensive inscriptions, as well as using it in advertising and on consumer goods.
The day before, Alyoshkin noted that there are no fines for careless wearing. Responsibility comes only for the deliberate desecration of the symbol of military glory, writes NSN.
Prior to that, on May 5, RIAMO wrote that the St. George ribbon is not recommended to be fixed on hair, hats, trouser belts, clothes below the waist, bags and shoes, used as laces or placed on the car body, including antennas and side mirrors. In addition, you should not wear a torn or stained ribbon.
Honored Lawyer of Russia Ivan Solovyov, in an interview with RT on May 4, recalled that in accordance with the federal law "On the St. George Ribbon," the St. George ribbon is one of the symbols of Russia's military glory.
Lawyer Natalia Malinovskaya warned on May 3 that law enforcement officers may also have questions for those who place the symbol on dog collars, notes 360.ru .
