- Peskov pointed to the usual strengthening of security measures on the eve of the holidays.
On the eve of major holidays, especially Victory Day, security measures are always being strengthened in Russia. This was announced on May 7 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"You know that on the eve of big holidays, and, of course, Victory Day probably belongs mainly to big holidays in our country, additional security measures are always taken by the relevant special services," he said at a briefing.
Peskov explained that this year there is also an increase in security, including against the background of the terrorist threat from Kiev.
On May 4, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin had decided to declare a truce on May 8 and 9 in honor of celebrating the Victory of the Soviet people in the Second World War. The Ministry also expressed the hope that Ukraine would also join the ceasefire.
At the same time, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky hinted at a possible drone strike on Moscow on Victory Day. At the summit of the European Political Community, he said that Ukrainian drones could also appear at the parade.
