Internet disconnection in Moscow and St. Petersburg will be carried out within the framework of the current legislation. Such measures are necessary to ensure the safety of citizens. This was announced on May 7 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"You know that <...> the necessary measures are being taken within the framework of the current law. They are necessary to ensure the safety of citizens, which is an absolute priority," he said.

According to him, the authorities are not currently considering options for support measures for businesses facing network disruptions. He noted that at a recent meeting with members of the government, Russian President Vladimir Putin separately drew attention to the importance of informing the public. The head of state also pointed out the need for stable functioning of systems that are critically important for life support.
