The European Commission (EC) is not ready to unblock all blocked EU funds to Hungary, despite the planned change of power in the country. This was reported by the Politico newspaper, citing diplomatic sources.

According to the newspaper, Brussels is negotiating with the team of future Prime Minister Peter Magyar on the allocation of € 10.4 billion from the Reconstruction Fund. However, the EC said it was ready to discuss only the grant part, which amounts to €6.5 billion, opposing loans of €3.9 billion.

The newspaper notes that the funds were frozen due to the claims of the European Union (EU) for violation of the principles of the rule of law under the rule of Viktor Orban. Brussels believes that Hungary has too little time left to adopt reforms, as the program is valid until August 31.
