Toyota car sales in Russia have almost doubled in 2026

According to the results of January-April, 9708 new Toyota cars were registered in Russia. This is almost twice (+97%) more than in January-April last year, when 4,929 cars of this Japanese brand were registered in the country. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel.

Toyota ranks seventh in the ranking in terms of the volume of cars sold in four months, and its market share exceeds 2.5%. Thus, every 40th buyer of a new car chose Toyota.

Russians most often chose the RAV4 crossover among Toyota models, which accounted for just over a third (34.2%) of demand — 3,324 units. The top three also includes Highlander (3,176 units) and Camry (1,788 units).

According to the expert, almost 90% of Toyota vehicles (8,549 units) that were imported to Russia this year were manufactured in China. All shipments follow alternative import schemes, including through Kyrgyzstan.

As reported the day before, by the end of April this year, 117.5 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 15.1% more than in the same month of 2025. The Lada Granta model topped the Russian car market in April 2026, and the Tenet T7 crossover of the domestic brand regained the title of the most popular SUV, ahead of the Haval Jolion.
