The arrested lawyer Alexander Karabanov has been charged with fraud. This was reported on May 7 in the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) for the city of Moscow.

"A criminal case has been opened against the lawyer of the Moscow City Bar Association, Alexander Karabanov. He was charged with committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud on an especially large scale)," the ministry said in a statement.

The arrest of Karabanov in Moscow on suspicion of fraud became known on the same day. The arrest warrant for the lawyer will enter into force on May 13.
