French President Emmanuel Macron said on May 6 that the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz should be lifted by all parties to the conflict.

"All sides must immediately and unconditionally lift the blockade of the strait. It is extremely important to return to the regime of full freedom of navigation that existed before the conflict in a sustainable manner," reads the message in X (former. Twitter).

According to Macron, the multinational mission created by France and the UK can help restore trust among shipowners and insurers. He noted that the pre-deployment of the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle is also part of these efforts.

The French leader stressed that the return of calm in the strait would help advance negotiations on nuclear issues, ballistic missiles and the regional situation.

On May 6, the Chinese Foreign Ministry reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, at a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, said that the issue of opening the Strait of Hormuz should be resolved as soon as possible. The Iranian minister noted that the political crisis with the United States cannot be resolved by military means alone, so Iran will strive to reach consensus through peaceful negotiations.

On May 5, Iran announced the introduction of a new vessel passage system through the Strait of Hormuz. It is noted that after reviewing the rules, all vessels must adjust their activities and obtain a special permit for transit through the strait.
