- Axios reported that the United States expects a response to the memorandum proposal in the coming days.
The United States expects Iran to respond to the proposed memorandum of understanding within two days. This was reported on May 6 by the Axios portal, citing sources.
"American officials have stated that they expect a response from Tehran within the next 24-48 hours," the publication says.
According to one of the portal's sources, the parties are no longer so far from concluding an agreement.
The Axios portal learned on the same day that Washington and Tehran were discussing a memorandum on the nuclear program. This agreement, as noted, is the closest that the parties have managed to reach since the beginning of the conflict. It stipulates that in return for refusing to enrich uranium, Iran will receive the lifting of part of the US sanctions imposed on it.
At the same time, American leader Donald Trump said it was "too early" to talk about direct peace talks with representatives of the Islamic Republic. The Reuters news agency learned that the Iranian authorities called the text of the American side a "wish list" rather than a reality.
