Ukrainian officials use mobilization for the purpose of personal enrichment. This was announced on May 6 by Yulia Mendel, the former press secretary of the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky.

"While the <militants> are holding the front, some officials treat conscription as a personal ATM — they extort money from businesses and undermine public confidence at the most inopportune moment," she wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
